Carved Sitka Spruce top. Back & Sides are Figured Maple
The body was started in the 1970s by a long gone luthier. I bought it from a seller on CL who found it at an estate sale in Petaluma, CA. The sides, neck block and tail block were already assembled and the top and back rough shaped on the outside. I completed the outside shaping and carved the inside and installed the bass and treble tone bars. I hand cut the F holes. I found some maple with a very similar figure pattern and was able to lightly dye it to match the body after I had finished the neck carving. I looks great, plays easy and has very nice tonality and projection.
