How sales people like to present the A3:
The Steinway A3 was only manufactured between 1913 and 1945, so with its limited 32 year production these models are rare and highly prized. It remains today one of Steinway's most sought after and balanced pianos.
The A3 measures 6’4 1/2”, two inches longer than the current A and features greater power and range of tone. It is considered by many as being comparable to the Steinway B, the so-called "perfect piano." Built from 1914-1941, the A3 was more affordable than the B, more manageable in size and produced a sound and strength on par with its 6’11” brethren. The A3 piano was a staple of the New York factory only to be discontinued in 1945 when piano rebuilding resumed after World War II and word has it that production ceased due to the competition it created for the larger and more expensive Steinway B.
