Masaru Kohno (1926–1998) is widely regarded as one of Japan’s greatest classical guitar builders. His instruments feature a traditional 7-fan bracing design, precise internal construction, and a voice known for clarity, projection, and tonal balance. He won the 1967 Liège Guitar-Making Competition, and his guitars remain highly valued by players and collectors.
