Kalamazoo KG-31 Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar, pre war c. 1935, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan Gibson factory, all solid woods, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, rosewood fingerboard.
Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Overall a good playing example of this basic 16" Kalamazoo arch-top with some general finish wear overall. The guitar has the original finish and original hardware including the adjustable rosewood bridge, Gibson-style tailpiece. With a pressed solid spruce top this guitar is better sounding than many inexpensive period archtops, this is a very solid guitar with a chunky neck and big rhythmic punch. Very Good + Condition.
These guitars were used by legendary blues men like Robert Johnson and Johnny shines.
