Vintage Soares’y 8 String Electric Archtop Guitar with Case - $475 (healdsburg / windsor)

It features two pickups, a 3-way switch to select either pickup or both, and volume and tone knobs. The pickups work well and produce a ringing, clear sound (especially when combined), making it easy to spend hours producing mesmerizing strummed drones (when tuned like a mandolin). It may also be tuned to make it an 8-string tenor guitar.
Its neck has 21 frets and scale length is 22”. The tuning pegs work well. It weighs about 4 1/2 pounds, and measures 37 x 14.5 x 1.5. I bought the guitar from Mantova’s 2 Street Music in Eureka, CA in December, 2015. I have not played it much, and it has lived a quiet life in my smoke-free home. For a Soares’y, it is very well built except for a binding repair where the neck meets the body at its lower bout, and it does have a small rattle in its body when shaken. Fret wear is very light. The finish is like new and the body and neck are excellent. Its hard plastic case has some foam padding and is serviceable at best. Not shown in the photos is that I place a large bath towel around the guitar when it’s in its case for extra cushioning. $475
