Vintage 1970’s Hohner International Piano
This sleeper of a 61 key electronic piano was made in Italy, and would make a great addition to any studio seeking an old-school analog “secret weapon”. It has 3 sounds - bass, piano, and “steel guitar/harpsichord”. The bass sound, which is low on sustain but blends in with other sounds very well due to not being boomy, but has its own on/off switch, volume slider, and output jack. The other 2 sounds - piano and “steel guitar/harpsichord” may be played individually or mixed together with the volume sliders on the front panel. The steel guitar/harpsichord sound is a “poor man’s Clavinet” with its own unique vibe. The piano and steel guitar/harpsichord can be modified with the variable speed vibrato with switchable delayed vibrato. There is an input jack for a pedal, and I will include a modern era sustain pedal that works fine with it, and greatly adds to the keyboard's versatility.
It measures 41x12x5, and weighs slightly over 31 pounds. The 12 holes on the back panel provide access for tuning (like an electronic organ of the same era).
All functions work very well and its sounds are clear and clean. Note the minor melting on the F#5 and G#5 notes.
The carry bag is functional for protection. It has 2 zippers originating at either end of the bag that meet in the center when closed, and they both work. Both hand straps are broken, but the latching belt is intact and will keep the bag closed. The holes on the top panel would have held a music rack, but it did not come with it when I bought it used in 2008. $350
