1970’s Hondo Longhorn HP 1081 6-String Electric Guitar - Bronze with Fitted Case. First introduced in 1978, this guitar was inspired by the Danelectro Guitarlin. It features a single humbucking pickup wired into an active system powered by a 9 volt battery with three mini-toggles (coil-tap, phase in/out and +3db boost) and an onboard preamp, volume and tone knobs, original brass nut and brass bridge. The pickup is particularly gritty when the boost is on, and the toggles combined with the tone knob offer a wide range of in-your-face tones. With its cutaway “horns” allowing full access to its 31-fret fretboard and its aggressive pickup, it is a slide guitar player’s dream guitar. Unlike most Hondo instruments, it was made in Japan. This is an early version with an “H” headstock logo and bronze painted headstock, body and back of neck. Also included is its original fitted hard case with key.
Excellent condition, with practically zero fret wear and minimal use marks and paint wear and chips. The pickup, preamp, toggles and volume and tone knobs work as they should. The case is also in excellent condition, with a metal Dallas, Texas guitar shop advertisement. $750
