1960’s Astatic D104 “Lollipop” Crystal Mic with Stand, ¼” Output
Classic crystal element microphone with stand mounted switch, ¼” connector and base located volume adjustment. This one has a 1965 dated schematic on the inside of its base. When I bought it used in 2002 it had this same ¼” connector. As I was testing it in order to sell it this week I learned from internet sources that some models had a battery in the base for a pre-amp, and this one had a badly corroded 9 volt battery. When I tried to remove it, one of its terminals snapped off in the battery connector. I replaced the connector with a new part, but when connected to an amplifier with the battery installed the mic would feed back, so I removed the battery.
Best suited as a shelf queen! It is pretty much only suitable for speech due to the crystal element (which is tinny sounding), and having to hold the switch while operating it. Excellent appearance and the switch works well. The base shows some wear due to use. $100
