This is a basket patented in Oregon in the 1920s to fill with hops. It is picking time now. These are very uncommon to find and are useful and are very decorative. You can even make a table from them. This is a very unusual example with original wire work reinforcing in the interior of the basket and the exterior. Sonoma County was and still is a big hops growing region. But, these baskets are from the 1920s through the 40's. If you have a brewery this can be great decor! This measures 31"high with a 25" diameter. I love that initials of the ranch are stamped on the outside.
