Mid-Century Modern-style or possibly Postmodern stool has maker’s label ‘PALECEK’ affixed to the underside of the seat. It likely is of the mid-1980s, now retired, no longer available in the PALECEK catalog. (PALECEK is a Richmond California-based furniture manufacturer since the mid-1970s.) The stool was a modern adaptation those of Roman and Greek antiquities, and later Medieval-period stools commonly referred to as ‘Curule.’ This version is of brushed stainless-steel (SST) w/white leather-covered sling seat w/additional SST detailing and some brass fasteners. This is a fabulous vintage counter stool or ottoman of high-quality materials – a 1-1/4”-dia. tubular brushed SST legs and stretchers w/welded joinery, and a rigid sling-type seat finished in textured white leather w/top-stitching. The seat is about 17-1/2” W x 16” D, the tubular metal shoulder is 25-1/2” H/low point of sling, 24” H. The stool ‘footprint’ is about 17” W x 16” D. It is crafted with quality materials that effect a fantastic eye-catching design. The legs are tipped with domed Nylon floor glides for safe use on virtually any floor type. The stool is in very fine vintage condition with only a few spots/scuffs on the brushed stainless frame, and similarly on the leather cover. It’s available for local pick-up in San Rafael, cash, Venmo, or PayPal.
