CHOBA TANSU Japanese - Meiji Period, 1890s. ( merchant chest ) I purchase and rescue antique Tansu chests, then spend up to one week with my assistant restoring and reconditioning the various detailed issues that have occurred with the wood and metal hardware since they were made in the late 1890s. I then wholesale them to retail dealers. I am currently offering this extra dark wood Tansu at a reduced price, without the dealer markup. The photo of its side is the accurate color of the wood.
