Position Summary
The Lead at Costeaux Petaluma is a key part of creating an exceptional guest experience while supporting daily operations of the hotel café. This role blends hospitality, leadership, and operational excellence—guiding the team, supporting retail performance, and ensuring each guest interaction reflects the warmth and quality of the Costeaux brand.
This position works closely with hotel management and engages with the local community to ensure a seamless, elevated experience for both guests and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Hospitality & Experience
• Lead by example in delivering warm, attentive, and genuine hospitality
• Foster an inviting environment where every guest feels welcomed and valued
• Thoughtfully resolve guest needs and feedback with professionalism and care
• Uphold Costeaux standards for safety, cleanliness, and organization
Team Leadership & Development
• Recruit, train, coach, and support a high performance team
• Cultivate a positive, collaborative team culture rooted in respect and accountability
• Assist in onboarding new team members and ongoing development
Scheduling & Daily Operations
• Create and manage team schedules to ensure consistent, high-quality coverage
• Oversee daily flow of service, ordering, promotions
• Partner with leadership to maintain efficient and organized operations
Retail Sales & Presentation
• Inspire the team to confidently share product knowledge and enhance the guest experience
• Maintain beautiful, abundant displays that reflect the quality of our offerings
• Accountable for retail sales goals through thoughtful service and merchandising
• Analyze reporting to identify opportunities for growth and cost control
Partnership & Community Engagement
• Work closely with hotel management to ensure alignment in guest experience and operations
• Represent Costeaux within the Petaluma community, fostering strong local relationships
• Support initiatives that connect the bakery with guests, neighbors, and partners
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in hospitality, café, or retail leadership
• A genuine passion for guest service and team development
• Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
• Experience with scheduling and team supervision
• Ability to remain composed, solution oriented and positive in a fast-paced environment
• Business acumen – understanding of financial information, sales, labor, inventory
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Availability to work weekends and holidays
