Position Overview:
We are looking for a curious, growth-minded Kitchen Associate who is excited about plant-based food and eager to learn. You need to show up with enthusiasm, a willingness to grow, and a genuine interest in what we are building here at Carmella. Working alongside our Kitchen Lead, you will develop your skills in a supportive, health-focused kitchen environment where learning is part of the culture.
Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing healthy, high-quality food and beverage items following established recipes and guidelines
Practice and develop knife skills through daily ingredient preparation, including washing, chopping, and portioning fruits and vegetables
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards
Assist with proper storage and rotation of ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste
Collaborate with the Kitchen Lead and team members to ensure timely and accurate execution of orders
Support inventory management, restocking, and organizing supplies
Participate in regular kitchen maintenance tasks, including cleaning equipment and organizing storage areas
Engage actively in ongoing training to expand your knowledge of plant-based food preparation, nutrition, and food safety practices
Bring a positive, curious attitude to every shift
Requirements:
Commercial kitchen experience required (minimum 6 months)
Knife skills and comfort with food preparation fundamentals
Openness to learning about ingredients, techniques, and dietary lifestyles such as vegan, gluten-free, and raw food
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail and care for food quality and presentation
Good time management and organizational skills
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks
Food Handler's certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
Availability to work full-time, including weekends
