Position Summary: The Project Engineer will support the planning, coordination, and execution of remediation projects by serving as a key link between the project manager, field crews, subcontractors, and engineers. They assist with developing schedules, reviewing plans and specifications, tracking quantities and costs, preparing RFIs and submittals, and ensuring work complies with safety and quality standards. The position will also be responsible to help solve field problems, maintain project documentation, and coordinate resources so the project progresses efficiently, safely, and according to the contract requirements. Environmental Remediation projects may include demolition, excavation of hazardous waste soil, construction of remediation systems, and/or various types of civil construction restoration.
In This Role, You Will:
- Engage in site layout, cost estimating, construction planning, scheduling, material procurement, quality control, and job site safety
- Perform quantity tracking (including calculations) and cost coding for purposes of productivity analysis and accurate job cost forecasting
- Initiate progress and final payments with owners and subcontractors
- Prepare daily reports as related to crews, progress and issues
- Provide document control for correspondence, submittals, RFI’s, etc
- Assist in the preparation of final records for the project, including as-builts
- Work with foreman to ensure structures are built in conformance with the contract requirements
- Coordinate and monitor the work of subcontractors
- Represent contractor in a business-like and professional manner
- Assist in carrying out a variety of basic field duties at the job site related to general construction
What We Require:
- Two or more years of construction experience as a Project Engineer
- Demonstrated experience working with mass excavation and/or earthwork construction, structural demolition. Bonus – Paving/Grading, Underground, Environmental Remediation Systems, General Building Construction experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience with earthwork construction safety is desired
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) to generate daily reports efficiently and with a high degree of accuracy
- Must be able to work part-time in a construction environment onsite with exposure to dust, noise, and inclement weather
- Must be willing and able to travel to job site locations as assigned to work onsite
