If you live in LAKE COUNTY CA, or associated with someone who is... Don't bother contacting me.

I am selling my 1971 Chevy El Camino *Custom, which is an option above the standard El Camino but below an SS option.
The SS badges were on this vehicle when I purchased it.
I have decoded the Cowl Tag (Protecto-Plate), which I have included a photo.
ST = Style
71 = Model year (1971)
1 = Chevrolet division
36= Malibu/Chevelle V8
80 = El Camino
L = Built in Los Angeles (Van Nuys)
01648 = Fisher Body Unit #... Not the sequence #
TR = Trim
705 = Black vinyl interior with Bench seat
53 = Placer Gold paint
B = Black vinyl top
9C = (9 = 9th Month built in September) (C = 3rd Week in the month)
095270 = Data Processing #'s... These (6) #'s would be located in block #24 of the Build Sheet
160697 = Data Processing #'s... (1st (2) #'s would be located in block # 10 of the build sheet and last (4) located in block # 24)

This El Camino has the original *Commercial Black License Plate, which means you were allowed to haul items in the bed of the truck and not get a ticket for doing so.

It has a mildly built 350, and Rare Turbo 400 automatic transmission with Power Steering, Power Disc brakes with Air Conditioning, Front and Rear sway bars and Glove box light. All A/C components seem to be present, except for the air compressor, brackets and plumbing.
***$1500.00 spent on new parts @ Summit Racing in the past few months.
It has a set of Edelbrock aluminum #6088 cylinder heads with Roller Rockers, screw-in-studs, guide plates, topped with a Edelbrock intake manifold, Edelbrock carburetor, valve covers and air cleaner lid, Mild hydraulic RV cam, so no periodic valve adjustment is Not necessary.
Large Aluminum radiator, external transmission cooler, and original fan shroud keeps this muscle car running cool in the hot summer months.

New radiator hoses/clamps, thermostat and coolant flush.
Brand New PerTronix Flame Thrower Electronic HEI distributor (GM style with the 50K Volt coil in the cap), Morosco spark plug wires, Morosco Spark plug 6" boot insulators and wire separators, and NGK spark plugs.
New ProMaster high-torque mini starter motor.
Thick flanged Hedman headers with dual exhaust.
Recent replacement of the brake booster/master cylinder, and brakes work great.

I drive this car daily and it runs and drives very well. Starts every time within a few seconds of turning the ignition key and drives perfectly straight down the road with no assistance. (No Pulling)
All the steering components have been previously replaced with updated Upper and Lower Ball Joints, Inner and Outer Tie Rod ends, Pitman arm and Idler arm. Bushings in the front suspension looks to have been updated as well.
Rare Turbo 400 transmission that shifts like it should and was recently flushed with the updated Dextron fluid.
Weld Racing Prostar aluminum wheels with New tires installed, New Mc Gard chrome wheels locks and Race Master lug nuts.
Body is very straight with some minor rust on the lower L/F front fender and behind the R/R wheel, and floor boards are solid with no rust found (SEE PICS)
The inside of the bed is virtually free of any dings or dents.
This El Camino originally came in a Very Rare Placer gold metallic color, but a previous owner had painted over it with the black primer.
It has a metal Cowl Induction hood with the functional air intake flap.
The basic style hood pins will soon be replaced and updated to a locking style hood lock set.
Interior is Black and in good condition, the very comfortable bench seat had been previously reupholstered, decent carpet, and headliner that is in excellent condition. Grant steering wheel, and kick panels are in good shape with no speaker holes.
This a running and driving 1971 Chevy El Camino with a Clean Title in My Name.
Asking $10,500
