Irish green RS outlaw tribute car
This is a professionally built ’73 RS Outlaw Tribute Car based on a 1969 912 very solid California car that has been set up great for street or track. The carbureted 1973 and a half 911T 2.4 liter engine has a 7R case and has been been rebuilt. The aluminum 915 5 speed transmission has also been rebuilt with a new aluminum clutch set. Its just a very nice, dependable combination. The suspension has been upgraded to Carrera struts, Bilsteins shocks front and rear, aluminum RS brake calipers (same as a real RS or a 76 turbo ), aluminum rear bananas, new turbo tie rods and all new bushings. The wheels are factory Fuchs 7&8x15” (same as a real RS and 76 turbo). Larger torsion bars and sway bars were installed. “This car rides and handles great”.
Now lets talk about the body. I chose this 1969 Porsche 912 because it was in excellent original condition. The Irish green paint was excellent, no rust ever in this San Jose, CA original car. Besides, 10 years ago 912’s were not worth much money, makes this a great candidate for the RS clone. And for you information, in 1969 Porsche did not make a designated 912 body, only 911 bodies were made for since there was a small amount of 912’s ordered. So they just changed the rear motor mounts and installed the four cylinder engine in the 911 and out pops a 912. All brakes, suspension, transmission and wiring are the same. A couple gauges were changed too.
I bought the car, removed the engine and trans then took the car to Frank Chavez Auto of San Francisco, CA (known to be the best Porsche restoration guy in SF). He did real RS flares, steel and butt welding. He fit the factory duck tail and the AIR front RS bumper. He prepped the body and did a high quality paint job as original Irish Green and now 10 years later it is still fabulous.
All new rubbers and seals were installed along with a new headliner. The fit is perfect and the doors have the Porsche ring when shut. It has nice chrome too. It has the original hood crest, radio, seats and the tool & jack. I forgot to mention the the floors and front suspension pan are original and still have the factory under-seal on them.
We have gone through everything on this car.
The interior has been upgraded to RS door panels and carpets. It had a MoMo steering wheel. The dash is original and nice, seats are leather and from an ’86 Turbo. I do have some stock seats or some period correct Recarro type seats if you’d rather have them. I also have larger engines for an extra cost, of coarse.gb This car had been stored in a warehouse for over 10 years and has a California non-op clear title.
