This type of chair was kept in entry halls of large estates during the 1800's. This chair was probably built on the East coast.
The base is very sturdy and comfortable, but the back pannel is broken. One of the decorative arm curves fell off, but fits cleanly and could be re-attached (shown in ziplock)
I restore furniture, but don't have time to do anything with this peice.
My plan was to remove the back, replace it with a lower back made of ply with a curved top, stain to match + add back cushion.
These chairs sell for around $500 when they're in working order.
This could be an easy fix & flip for a handy person - or just a nice functional peice of furniture.
