I believe this is an early French 19th century, rectangular copper large box, with all hand painted toleware type designs on a cream colored background. As you can see from the picture of the bottom of the box it is indeed totally copper.

It is a very nice quality antique handmade toleware copper box. It's completely painted by hand (except for the bottom of the box) and has acquired a gorgeous patina from age.

It's painted inside with a gray green color. The piece is in nice antique condition and measures 19" inches long by 9 inches wide by 5-1/4 inches tall. It would make such a beautiful center piece on a dining table or in a window box with orchids or other flowers. It's very unusual.
