Vintage Lge Natural Bentwood Owl Décor, Mid-Century ca. 1962, a symbol of wisdom and knowledge, is a vintage art treasure. With the natural vine wood, the owl’s amber gem eyes, its bentwood beak and other features and textures, the piece epitomizes the emergence of the bentwood ethos of the Charles and Ray Eames and the Mid-Century era. The 2-dimensional wall- or hanging art piece is about 27” H x 17” W at its extremities. It was a tedious process to create the piece. From soaking the vines and fixing and drying the shape in place, to fastening all the wood joints w/fine nails, it took amazing skill of the artist. And yet the result is that it looks completely natural. This gorgeous owl is perfect to bring a ‘touch of magic’ to a room, be it in a penthouse, a beach retreat, or a classic California MCM ‘Case Study’ home. This owl has been cleaned of its half-century dust accumulation and treated with a coat of wood oil to refresh and preserve its vibrancy. This type of bentwood art is a rare find. There are very limited comps available on-line. In fact, the only apparent similar owl recently found is held by an art gallery with a listing price of over $500. This is bargain-priced in comparison, and available for local pick-up in San Rafael, cash, Venmo, or PayPal.
