Framed Photograph by Michael Creedo ‘Lightning Over Railroad Tank Cars’ (an inferred title) from his series ‘MISSION BAY/SAN FRANCISCO, CA’ c. 1984. This black and white gelatin silver print is nominally 12” W x 10” H, set in a beveled white mat under glass, in an aluminum frame 20” W x 16” H. It has Creedon’s stylus-impressed signature and date 1984 in the lower right corner of the print image margin. (The mat backerboard also is stamped with Creedon’s copyright notice, dated 1984.) The nighttime scene is of railroad tank cars sitting idle in the SP railyard, with the San Francisco skyline in the background. The ghostly light from the sky illuminated by a series of lightning bolts over the City highlight the Bank or America Tower in the center skyline, and the tip of the TransAmerica Pyramid to the right. (Michael Creedon is a Fine Art Photographer who, from 1984, documented the Mission Bay Area of San Francisco, showing how its 300-acre site slowly evolved over the past 40 years to become its ‘City within the City.’ The Mission Bay area of San Francisco was historically the massive Southern Pacific railyard from the late 1800s. It evolved from a natural bay into a hub for railroads, warehouses, and shipping until the mid-to-late 20th century (see accompanying vintage photographs.) The former railyard eventually was transformed into the modern mixed-use neighborhood it is today with the UCSF campus, the Chase Center, and high-rise residential buildings.) The framed photograph is available for local pick-up in San Rafael, cash, Venmo, or PayPal.
