Framed abstract litho print w/foil features ‘Magnetic Field’ by Robert A. Devoe (1928-1992) is from the Phoenix Art Press Collection. Offset lithograph print w/ gold foil-embossed accents is nominally 24” W x 36” H w/image 20” W x 30” H, w/clear acrylic glazing. It dry-mounted to a 4-ply backer board over pine wood frame. Print assembly is set into a Nielsen-type round-top aluminum frame nominally 24” W x 36” H x 1” D and secured with screwed metal clips. The print is typical Devoe’s forte, abstract expressionism. His interests ranged from technology and mathematics to philosophy, music and metaphysics. As he put it, he was "obsessed with the geometry of life, the design matrix of nature." Higher consciousness and the search for it is the underlying theme, even the purpose, of his art. Again, "My imagery comes from technology, science, and the mathematics of our time." The image combines elements of physics, Taoism, geometry, interstellar travel, the ‘Big Bang’ theory and the architecture of higher thought. The piece ‘Magnetic Field’ expresses his exceptional sense of design, energy and color. The entire assemblage is in excellent condition w/only minor scuffs on the frame, and similar on the acrylic glazing, not apparent at normal viewing range, and none in the field of the image. The frame is back-mounted with wire, ready to hang. It is available for local pick-up in San Rafael, cash, Venmo, or PayPal.
