This lithograph from 2006 is called "In Chair" and was printed from an oil that Garcia painted in the 1950s while he was in art school under the tutelage of Elmer Bischoff. Garcia gave the paintings to his older brother Tiff in 1958 or 1959, when he left art school for a career in music.

The oils were in storage for more than 40 years. Tiff Garcia and Grateful Dead sound engineer/producer Bob Matthews came up with the idea of combining art, commerce and community service by displaying the oils and selling prints of one, in part to raise money for an art scholarship for San Francisco college students.

There were 925 made, unnumbered, and obviously unsigned. The prints' production was supervised by the legendary artist Stanley Mouse.
