I have an original 1979 Midway Galaxian Cocktail arcade in 100% working condition. Powers on and is 100% playable. Speakers, sound monitor joystick all work.
When I got it the capacitors were going out on the main board so I sent it to Star Base Alpha in Louisiana and they went the through the entire main board and replaced all the bad capacitors and did an extensive and expensive burn in and bench test on it. When I got it back it I had JL Entertainment come out test the transformers and leads and install the main board back in. The gold connectors on the paddle joystick were cleaned with that special gold cloth and the points were adjusted. Since it has been reassembled we have been playing it every night for about 30 min for the past 2 months. I have had the power cord replaced, and replaced the darkening plexiglass under the table top glass purchased from the ArcadeShop in Georgia. The artwork under the glass was in poor shape so I had the screen printed graphics scraped off and purchase a new laser printed Galaxian underlay also from the ArcadeShop and had that put on. Cabinet is in good shape, it has the original monitor in it. The only modification I can see on it is the switch on the bottom underside of the cabinet has been bypassed so the second you plug it in it powers on. I have not tested the switch but it looks like it still would work. The leads that were cut are in very close proximity to the switch and it could easily be reattached if you prefer to reach on the under side to power it on. I prefer to just plug and unplug it from the outlet when I want to play it.
The original ones had the graphics screen printed on the reverse of the table top glass. But they always got scratched on the corners and this one was showing signs of wear and someone painted black over portions of the graphics that wore through and the graphics just looked tired. So like I said they screen printed graphics were scraped off the glass, underside was cleaned, and then polished and there is a brand new laser printed underlay under that glass now. They do sell original style screen printed glass but they are quite expensive. Like 600 dollars. But in true original condition these arcade cabinets sell for around 3000. You would need that screen printed glass to make it 100% original. The game sports the original paddle style joystick with gold connectors.
So nothing is wrong with it. It can be plugged in and played the way it is now. I also have a Ms. Pac Man cocktail arcade. When people come over or the kids have people over these things are always a hit with Galaxian being more popular. It will be a focal point in your game room or family room......as these are really rare to see nowadays. This is not a 60 in 1 knock off style or an Arcade 1 Up version. It is an original 1979 Midway Galaxian Cocktail arcade with a crt monitor and original transformers.
I dont think you will be disappointed in it. You rarely see these for sale and it is even more rare to find them in this good of condition.
This is a no BS transaction. Face to Face cash meet up, not gonna ship it, no validation codes required, no drama no BS. Ask your wife before you show up...But if you have to ask her..... you probably should not buy it.
I see them routinely sell for about 1200 dollars so I priced this a little cheaper to get it out of here. Reason I am selling is I purchased a Galaga arcade and need the funds to get it up and running and I will not have the room for all three of these.
