Concrete Foreman – Job Description
The Concrete Foreman is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all on-site concrete operations while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and schedule compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Review and study project plans and specifications; highlight and mark critical notes, dimensions, and details to improve jobsite efficiency and accuracy.
Perform layout for all phases of concrete work, including structural concrete, flatwork, curbs, curb & gutter, and related scopes.
Manage all on-site activities, including supervision of crew members, enforcement of safe work practices, and quality control of forming, placement, and concrete finishes.
Plan, assign, schedule, and supervise the daily work of concrete crews, laborers, truck drivers, and equipment operators involved in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance activities.
Ensure all required materials are identified and ordered at least 24 hours in advance to allow Operations Manager sufficient time for delivery or pickup coordination.
Maintain consistent communication with the Supervisor, providing daily production updates and reporting any jobsite, crew, or project issues requiring attention.
Coordinate closely with on-site superintendents to meet project schedules and customer expectations; promptly report any construction-related challenges or delays.
Work directly with inspectors to coordinate on-site inspections; verify all work is inspection-ready prior to inspector arrival and ensure compliance with applicable codes and specifications.
Schedule crews and materials on a daily basis and provide a rolling 3–5 day look-ahead schedule; for smaller projects, schedule crews and materials through job completion.
Place concrete orders with as much advance notice as possible, ensuring quantities are within ±1 cubic yard of actual requirements.
Operate equipment as needed, including skid steer, excavator, roller, and related construction equipment.
Verify that all crew members report to the jobsite on time each day and are prepared to work.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Concrete Foreman overseeing crews and on-site concrete operations.
10+ years of experience in the concrete construction industry, including structural concrete, flatwork, curbs, and related scopes.
Proven ability to read, understand, and interpret construction plans, specifications, and details.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage crews, maintain productivity, and enforce safe work practices.
Demonstrated experience coordinating schedules, materials, equipment, inspections, and subcontractors.
Working knowledge of concrete placement, forming systems, finishing techniques, and quality control standards.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors, superintendents, inspectors, and crew members.
Experience operating construction equipment such as skid steers, excavators, rollers, or similar equipment (preferred).
Reliable transportation and ability to report to job sites on time.
OSHA training and relevant certifications (preferred).
