Here is my Goodway engine lathe, purchased new in 1989 and owned by me for its entire life. This is a robust, Taiwanese-built machine known for its accuracy and long-term durability.
The lathe has a 16” swing over the bed and 40” between centers. The lathe has a gap bed but the gap bridge has never been removed so the factory alignment remains intact.
It’s 2 1/16” spindle bore is quite generous for a 16" lathe— you can pass larger stock through the headstock than many other machines in this class. Combined with a 7.5HP motor, this is a very capable machine.
Over the years the unit has seen light duty use machining precision parts for stop-motion armatures and specialized film industry effects. It has a solid patina of coolant and cutting oil from years of professional service but is rust free.
