FS: HP LaserJet 4250dtn monochrome workgroup laser printer (Q5403V) with JetDirect J7949E networking card, USB, duplexer, extra paper tray, and memory upgrade
Time to share the LaserJet love and pass along this 4250dtn to someone else. This printer was a spare for us with only some casual printing, but we need the room for a nice color printer. This 4250dtn has the combination legal/letter paper trays (you set what size paper is in it), along with the additional tray three (3). I upgraded the memory with an 80 MB & a 128 MB DDR memory modules (More than doubling the memory that was included in the base printer when purchased new), and I added a duplexer to provide two-sided printing. The included toner cartridge is over 23% full, and the installed maintenance kit is at 6%. Sorry, I do not have any of the other options for the printer either (envelope feed or the MFD add ons).
Everything works fine as far as I can tell, with the display and indicator lights are vibrant - though there are some blemishes and dings from the years, as well as the plastic discoloring (that you typically find with older computer hardware using this sort of plastic). None of the visual blemishes impact the operation or use of the printer.
I scanned the configuration pages for the printer and the JetDirect card which are attached. The print quality is pristine and crisp with zero issues, noted by the good quality configuration page printouts and the supplies status page. NOTE: the config & test pages were printed on the reverse side of already used paper, so there is some “bleed through” due to this being the cheap & thin bond paper. I will bring and include the test & config pages when we meet up as proof.
Note I configured the JetDirect card per the HP printer hardening guidance, shutting off all other protocols other than TCP/IP. I am working on updating the firmware for the JetDirect card, HP shut down the server for this function, so the process is a manual one now. I hopefully will have it updated by the time you get this in your hands.
These 4250’s are tanks, which seem to run forever without issues. The toner cartridges last seemingly years, and these were created before HP started their shady practices of adding chips to “expire” the cartridges or limit printers to only using HP branded toner cartridges.
In my efforts to clean out and tidy up the garage I’m offering it up to a new home.
