This 17-foot-long Klepper Aerius folding kayak is (as described by Klepper) "an ideal touring kayak for day and weekend trips. It is very stable against tipping and immediately gives even paddling beginners a secure feeling. The kayak is suitable for sea, calm river, and ocean cruising."
Klepper kayaks are wonders of German engineering. They combine a cleverly designed wooden frame and canvas/rubberized hull that all snap together in around 20-30 minutes for the average person. (The world-record assembly time is under 5 minutes.) When disassembled, all the pieces fit into three bags that can be carried by one person and easily stowed in the trunk of a car, making the kayak highly portable without any rooftop racks. Assembly instructions, videos, and detailed specs can be found at klepper.com.
This particular kayak is between 15-20 years old but has been used just a few times and always stored indoors. It is in excellent condition, with all original parts. Included are two wooden Klepper paddles, the optional rudder kit, and an adjustable extra 3rd seat for a child. See the attached photos. (Klepper also sells a sail that can mounted at the front of the cockpit.)
A new Klepper Aerius costs $6,000. This very nice used one is available for only $1,000.
