If you have kids under 4 or 5 years old, and you think you want them to ski... take them to the ice rink.
This week I got some of the best insight EVER from an accomplished ski instructor. He said kids who know how to ice skate are inherently better at skiing from day one. That's because kids cannot lean back on ice skates, they must stay centered. They learn the "hockey stop" once rolling, which translate perfectly to a two-ski slide stop.
IN MY LIFE i never realized how much ice skating helps kids transfer to skiing. But it all makes sense.
If you want more, happy to chat. But this note is for all you folks with kids under 5 and want to learn to ski. (We are a ski family not a ice skate family, but I have seen first-hand how the ability to ice skate radically shortens the ability to learn to ski.)
