We are looking for a housemate to fill a room in our 3 bedroom/1 bath home starting May 1, 2026.

Location: Our home is located in Southwest Berkeley with San Pablo Park around the corner. Berkeley Bowl West is located half a mile away. We are a one mile walk to Ashby Bart. The 36, 72, 88, and J line buses are also within a short walking distance. The area is very flat, walkable/bikeable. A corner store and a Tacos Sinaloa truck is parked two blocks away.
The Room: The room has hardwood floors and comes unfurnished, 10ft by 10ft. The house has central heating/AC and solar power.
Monthly Cost: $1080 with a commitment to monthly gardening done by all tenants on the property. If you are physically unable to do this labor, we do not want it to be a barrier. Please reach out anyway and let us know. The cost includes water, trash, and free access to in-unit washer and dryer. We are responsible for PGE and wifi. A deposit of $1133 due to landlord by move-in date. We are rent controlled. Usually only the price of gas and electricity is ~0-$40 per month split among 3 housemates (solar powers most of the property). Sonic internet is about $75 per month split among all on the property (4 people).
The House: We are in a stand-alone house with lots of fruit trees around: lemons, pineapple guavas, cherries, ground cherries, donut peaches and apricots. Garden beds in the front are available for planting. There is one other tenant living in an in-law unit in the back, who we will be sharing the backyard/gardening responsibilities with us. Tons of well-lit street parking is available. Common spaces include a kitchen, a dining area, front porch, backyard and a living room for hosting or hanging out.
You'll be sharing the house with roommates, Claudia (late twenties, woman) and Brie (late twenties, woman). Brie works in the live music industry on a hybrid schedule. Claudia is a cook and works out of the house most days. Maya (early thirties, woman) lives in the in-law unit in the back and is a youth therapist working primarily in schools.
The house stays pretty quiet and clean however, we do like to host often. We are looking for a social and respectful community member who seeks more than a "just roommates" vibe.
We prefer to share some household expenses (toilet paper, gas for the grill etc.). We generally stick to a weekly chore wheel and put a lot of effort into making a clean, warm and safe home where all housemates are friendly with each other. We value open and clear communication about the home. Monthly house dinners, to catch up and discuss any home improvement needs.
No couples please. No pets allowed currently. A small to medium sized, well-trained dog might be considered.
