I’m assembling a small group of thoughtful adults to rent a house together in Berkeley and create a calm, supportive shared home.
The goal is a democratically run cooperative household of four adults where everyone contributes to maintaining a respectful and stable living environment.
Timeline is within the next 1–2 months, once the right group comes together.
The Home We’re Looking For
We will search together for a 4-bedroom house in Berkeley with:
• natural light
• a good shared kitchen
• bike storage
• ideally a yard or outdoor space
• parking if available
• on a relatively quiet street
Target rent is about $1,200–$1,300 per person.
Everyone would apply together and sign the lease once we find the right house.
Household Vibe
This would be a friendly cooperative household, not a party house.
The goal is a home where people:
• have stable work and thoughtful lives
• respect quiet time and personal space
• enjoy occasional shared connection
Think independent adults who live their own lives but appreciate community. Maybe a monthly shared dinner or occasional conversation in the kitchen.
House Values
We’re aiming for a household grounded in:
• direct communication
• kindness and emotional maturity
• personal responsibility
• collaborative problem solving
• respect for shared space
Practical Boundaries
• No smoking inside the house
• Responsible alcohol use is fine
• Occasional cannabis outdoors is fine
• No hard drugs
• Partners visiting a few nights per week is fine (but no additional residents)
• Pets possible case by case
Everyone should be financially stable and able to qualify for a Berkeley lease.
About Me
I’m a 47-year-old cisgender woman who works with therapeutic art for neurodivergent children while completing my Master’s in Psychology.
I’m a big supporter of authentic self-expression and personal growth, and my hope is to create a home where people feel supported and empowered to live their best lives.
The household would be queer-friendly and inclusive.
Who Might Be a Good Fit
People roughly 35–50, though maturity matters more than age.
This could work well for:
• professionals
• therapists or educators
• grad students
• creatives with stable work
If This Sounds Interesting
Send a message with:
• a little about yourself
• what you do for work
• what kind of home environment you thrive in
• your timeline
Also curious:
What has worked well (and not worked well) for you in past shared living situations?
If it seems like a good fit, we can meet for coffee and see if we want to build a house together.
