Fostering a young male Xoloitzcuintli, Coquito, from a home that could no longer keep him. I was given very limited and possibly inaccurate information about his history, and it’s clear he needs a more experienced, patient home than I can provide, especially with a small child in the house.
Details:
• Male, ~5–6 months old
• Rabies tag provided
• Told he is vaccinated, but I do not have proof
• Healthy overall, though skin is a bit dry
• Very fearful and likely under-socialized
Behavior:
Coquito is extremely scared. He growls often when approached from inside his kennel when he feels cornered. These seem to be fear-based reactions, not aggression, but he needs someone experienced with shut-down or neglected dogs. He hasn’t allowed touch yet other than eating from my hands.
Ideal home:
Quiet, stable, no small kids, and someone with experience working with fearful/unsocialized dogs who can give him the time and patience he needs.
Small rehoming fee to ensure the right fit. I’m happy to talk by phone if you’re seriously interested.
Please message with a bit about your experience and home environment.
