Berkeley Symphony seeks a part-time Summer Administrative Assistant from June 1 – August 15, 2026. The position is 20-30 hours per week, with schedule and start/end dates negotiable by mutual agreement.
The Summer Administrative Assistant will join a small collaborative staff team to support Berkeley Symphony's administrative operations, patron communications, and subscription/ad sales renewal efforts.. The position will also provide logistical and organizational support for a planned office relocation during the summer.
The position generally works onsite at the Berkeley Symphony office during regular business hours (Monday – Friday 9:30am-5:00pm).

In addition, our award-winning Music in the Schools program brings symphony musicians into Berkeley public elementary school classrooms. Through our concerts and education programs, Berkeley Symphony serves over 7,500 people per year.

Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with patron and donor communications, including subscription and program ad renewal outreach and order processing
- Entering donations into the donor database and preparing acknowledgement letters
- Proofreading communications materials as requested
- Reviewing and updating website content to ensure information is accurate and current
- Updating institutional calendars as requested
- Assisting with administrative projects and office operations, including support for a planned office relocation
- Other support as needed
Qualifications
- Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Comfort with initiating phone and email outreach to patrons and advertisers
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort with technology and the ability to learn new software platforms quickly
- Ability and willingness to lift up to 25 pounds
- Positive attitude and sense of humor
- Experience working in a small nonprofit organization preferred
- Interest in and appreciation of classical music
Work Location and Hours
The position generally works onsite at the Berkeley Symphony office. The part-time schedule is flexible within standard business hours (Monday – Friday 9:30am-5:00pm).
