I’m a Berkeley based singer songwriter who gigs frequently in a variety of formats. We play acoustic as a duo, trio, quartet, and full electric band. We gig most every weekend all over Northern California. We get paid….not quite cover band money, but more than gas money. We play all sorts of venues from bars to wineries, to outdoor festivals. A willingness to do some driving to gigs is needed. If you're not up for gigging a lot, no need to reply. If you want to gig...I'm your guy!
My lead guitarist is moving on, so I’m looking for a replacement. Artists we cover range from Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Rolling Stones, the Byrds, Lucinda Williams, CCR, etc. The current lineup is me on electric/acoustic rhythm guitar, bass, drums, female harmony singer who plays guitar on a few songs and a lead player who switches from electric guitar to mandolin. I’m hoping for an electric lead player who can also play mandolin, but if you're like David Lindley and can play other instruments with strings...that would be great! Hoping for a creative player who can not only recreate parts already in place, but also add his/her own flourishes...especially as I write new material. Our current lineup is committed through mid-November, so you won’t have to rush to learn material, but an ability to learn relatively quickly, listen to other musicians, and improvise some would be essential. If you can sing back up that would be great, but not necessary. Full disclosure: we're not looking to add another songwriter or lead singer. Initial auditions would be at my home in Berkeley and band rehearsals are in West Oakland. An ability to rehearse during the day would also be great, but not needed. If interested, reply to the ad and I’ll send you links to our music, videos, gig schedule, etc. If you have any links or clips of your own playing, please send that too!
