Hello my Bay Area music patrons... my name is Thomas McKennie. I am an experienced professional vocal instuctor with over 30 years of experience in Hollywood and the recording industry including over a decade working in Hollywood with such performers as Bobby Brown, Nora Eckberg, and background vocalists for such srtists as Chris Brown and vocalists from 1500 Or Nothing Academy. I am Chief Operating Officer at Top Billin' Entertainment where we have directly produced such artists as Frank Stickemz, who is also a former lead singer of Tony,Toni,Tone as well as represented Bay Area acts like Sheeda Baby, Jerm Deezy and 2k Kent. In the past I have also worked with MC Hammer, Digital Underground, The Game, Too short, Tony,Toni,Tone, Lele Ponz, and the European multi-platinum artist Nora Eckberg ("I'm an Albatros" and "Little Swing"). My father is the Current Head Choir Director of Vukani Muwetu, the Bay Area singing group formed by former Black Panther activist Angela Davis. I was also a close acquaintance of the late Malonga Casquelourd, a mentor of mine who formed the Malonga Arts Center in Oakland. I will be in the Bay Area for several months so I thought this would be an opportunity to reconnect with serious artists in the area who may be looking for professional vocal instruction without having to travel to Los Angeles. As an Oakland native, and because of my love of the area, I will only be charging $50 an hour. I normally charge $100 or more (love those Beverly Hills clients) but I know it's costly up here so I'm going to give some love back to a few dedicated local artists who are serious about their craft and want true and articulate constructive criticism. You will see tremendous results even as soon as after your second session. I learned from one of Seth Riggs former students. He's the vocal instructor behind EVERY great singer you can think of from 70's on. I'm talking Patty Label, Micheal Jackson, Madonna and Stevie Wonder just to name a few. As you can probably tell by my post, I'm not only a music historian, but an active participant who has been fortunate to meet a lot of the greatest performers and entertainers of the modern era.
So here's the deal, I'm not pretentious so I don't need or want to work with big headed artists. This is a grind. You will work and be judged just like anybody else I would deal with in Hollywood. Some of you may not have it (to be an A-list type singer) and I'll tell you the truth if that's the case; I'm not trying to shaft anybody that's why I won't be accepting of every offer. Good people are hard to find and I'm content with my history in the music business. I want to work with passionate artists who really want to hone their craft to the highest levels possible for the love of the art, as well as its potential as a financial catalyst.
So if you've read this far, chances are you're probably pretty serious about seeing how far you can progress in your vocal talents, so go ahead and schedule that consultation and let's see where we can take this moving forward...
