Instead, I have been writing and recording songs using Garageband.
My motivation to perform is to find and engage a community of people who enjoy music and share ideas with audiences.
My inspirations often emerge from listening to NPR and KALX.
The lyrical topics gravitate to science fiction, progressive ideals and concerns about social media and consumerism.
I'm ready to discuss the meaning of the music and why the ideas are important to share.
Some of these songs could emerge as the premise of a movie or comic book.
I am on the verge of publishing and the songs are not yet internet available.
Checking to see if it is time to test these songs out with open minded, local musicians?
I write on acoustic guitar and develop them using looper pedals or Garageband.
I also play bass and monophonic analog synthesizer.
I have vocal training and avoid burying myself in reverb.
Like many, I love many different types of music, have no specific genre in mind and prefer variety aligning with the song in question.
Rock is the most common thread and I deeply appreciate a wide range of songwriters and bands from Buffy Sainte-Marie to Deerhoof and beyond.
I admire The Mills Brothers, The Kinks, The Doors, Spirit, Parliament, Jean Michelle Jarre, Kraftwerk, Talkingheads (w/ Eno), Siouxie, OMD, Joanna Newsom and many others.
My own default musical styles land in classic rock, alternative and funk styles.
I appreciate wit, dynamics and arrangements aligned with the storytelling aspect of the music.
Open to joining an existing group of musicians or starting from scratch with you.
I have a day job but evening and weekends are available to meet.
I may drop the day job in the next year to pursue this interest full time.
