Early 20th c Sarangi from the Santal tribe of the Indian state of Orissa; wooden. Without strings or bow. For the last twenty years it's been on my wall as a beautiful example of indigenous tribal sculpture. Snake skin over sound box. Wonderful how so-called 'primitives' are so sensitive to both the 'interior Self' and the 'Higher'. Of course, the artist may have been a shaman. 28"L x 5"W
