Like new 1966 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Amplifier and original cover.
I am the original owner of this like new amplifier. I bought it at Guitar Showcase when the store was in the owner's house. It has spent most of its life in a closet in my non-smoking home. An expert technician noted that it was built around the end of 1965. I was told that the serial number places it as January 1966. I am selling it so someone can take advantage of having this excellent tone machine. I have a smaller amplifier that I use for local gigs. Everything is original (including the grille cloth, tolex, footswitch and 2 prong cord) except the five B+ electrolitic filter capacitors that I had expertly replaced a number of years ago and one control knob. There is a typo on the tech's evaluation. The speakers are 10" original Jensens with code 023036 C8284 2. I received the following message via Reverb that "The C10NS was only available in Fender amps in 65 and 66, mostly Vibrolux Reverb and in 66 it was available in the Princeton and Princeton Reverb. However, the part # on the Jensens were different, C8284 on the VLR and C8306 on the Princeton. You got the C8284 number on your Vibrolux, it's also the big magnet of C10N and the correct sticker, so it's the C10N for sure." For another Reverb customer I pulled one of the tubes to confirm it was made by RCA.
Below are the results of the evaluation I paid for to be done by a local technician that specializes in the repair of Fender amplifiers:
"Evaluation Date: 10/11/2023

Reverb Driver Transformer: 606542

Cabinet Condition: Excellent
Overall Condition: 10
Comments: This Vibrolux Reverb Amp was produced around the end of 1965. It is in excellent condition. The five B+ electrolitic filter capacitors are the only electronic components that have been replaced. This is a typical repair for older amps, since this type of capacitor is prone to failure over time. All of the transformers are original and the date codes are consistent with the year of production. The date codes on the speaker are both identical and are from the same period as all of the transformers. These Fender label Jensen C12P speakers are considered by many to be the favored choice in this type of amp. The chassis is exceptionally clean and the cabinet is also in excellent condition. This amp is in excellent working condition."
