From the estate of a friend who is selling his collection due to health issues. This is my first experience with Michael Kelly guitars and I have to say I'm impressed. Made in Korea, it reminds me of a Reverend guitar, another quality brand built in Korea. It's essentially a Telecaster Custom with some tasteful modern updates including body contouring at the ribs and forearm (like a strat), push/pull pots for coil-splitting the humbucking pickups, and a compound radius fretboard for easier bending. With really nice finishing, I don't think you can find a more playable or lovely telecaster type guitar at anywhere near this price. Contact me for a test drive; no trades please. Thanks for looking.
From the web:
The Michael Kelly 1955 Amber Trans is a solid-body electric guitar that merges classic style with modern versatility. Its swamp ash body is topped with a quilt maple veneer and framed by flame maple binding, giving it a striking vintage-inspired look. The bolt-on maple neck features a modern “C” profile and a compound-radius Rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets, ensuring comfortable playability across the entire fretboard.
Equipped with Rockfield pickups—a mini humbucker at the neck and an SWC humbucker at the bridge—this guitar delivers rich, dynamic tones. The Great 8 electronics expand tonal options, allowing each pickup to switch between humbucker and single-coil modes via push/pull controls on the master volume and tone knobs, providing eight distinct sounds for maximum versatility.
With its combination of premium materials, classic aesthetics, and flexible electronics, the 1955 Amber Trans is a guitar that excels both visually and sonically, perfect for blues, rock, jazz, and beyond.
