This is an early 2000's all analog, EHX Ring Modulator with some bells and whistles. Comes with the original 40V PSU and an optional, modified Expression Pedal.
Some of the mods were inspired by the Moog MF-102 Ring Mod, others were improvements on some of the weird design choices in the stock model. The changes:
1. Carrier Wave Switch - While the stock model only used a sine wave carrier, it was capable of also producing a square wave carrier. The modded version can switch between sine and square.
2. Speed Switch - Changes the frequency of the carrier signal from audio rates to LFO rates. At default, it's a ring mod, at slow speed, the pedal is effectively a tremolo pedal. Applies to both sine and square waves. Two pedals in one.
3. Improved Filter Setting - This was another Flerb moment. Just dumb, blown out bass with no real-world application. I changed the circuit to a mid/low boost. Much more warm and musical.
4. Expression Pedal In - Controls the coarse frequency of the carrier wave. Basically, when plugged in, the expression pedal replaces the "Shift" knob.
5. On LED - EHX hated including "ON" LED's in their older pedals. Now you know when it's on.
The expression pedal I'm selling is also modded. The pot inside is increased to capture the entirety of the Shift knob sweep. Standard expression pedals will not capture the full range. Supposedly, this expression pedal used to belong to one of David Bowie's touring musicians in the 90's. Can't verify, but that's what I was told when I got it.
