1920s Weissbrod full size upright piano at 52" tall. A rare and exceptional German piano made of native old-growth timber with deep cinnamon tobacco finish in satin.
Weissbrod is a highly respected German brand now under the name of Wilh. Steinberg.
It has undergone full reconditioning and tuning, with free delivery included in San Jose and Santa Cruz.
In the 1920s, precisely during the production time of this piano, Yamaha Corp. sought out counsel from german music engineers who had the best scale designs in the world.
If you compare today's modern Yamaha U3 to this Weissbrod you will find the same foundation of scale design, the same cabinet design and dimensions, down to the same action layout, sheet music shelf and brass inlaid logo with the same font.
You can see how this Weissbrod is one of the fore-fathers of the infamous Yamaha U-series, now the number one selling piano in the world.
This Weissbrod was originally imported to Scotland and purchased from a shop in Glasgow, as seen from the plaque below the logo.
Over the course of its life, it likely came on ship to the U.S and made its way, eventually to California.
This Weissbrod has a tone unlike any I've ever heard. The bass has a particular depth and character that resonates throughout the old-growth cabinet. If you test it out you will hear for yourself. Tenor is rich and warm and treble is sweet and clear.
The action is in excellent condition with smooth touch and proper dynamic range. The keys are genuine with no chipping, they have tarnished over time with some amber colored patina.
Beautiful wood inlay in the emblem on top panel, which includes mother-of-pearl ( see close-up pic ).
This piano would be a feature piece to a home while also serving as an excellent instrument.
Has a refined, distinguished appearance that catches your eye while also not being too pretentious.
It is clearly a treasure and has a warm inviting energy to it...wants to be played.

Delivery is included within 50 miles of our workshop to ground level of home
with 5 or fewer steps leading to entrance.

Alternatively, if you are too far to come by our workshop, we have had many satisfied customers who have bought pianos from us at a distance, with the help of high resolution pictures, audio, video and/or facetime - which we can provide for any piano upon request.
