SUMMARY:
An inspector 3 is an experienced inspector. Works on all inspections, specially on 1st piece
inspections without need of supervision. Performance excellence at this level along with
acquired knowledge OJT and self-education will lead to promotions to inspector level 4.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED. Ability to read and write English. Ability to perform basic
math. Basic computer skills (email, excel…). Should have an advanced knowledge of
GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and able to read any blue print. This inspector shall have at least 3
years of mechanical inspection and 2 years of CMM experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete each essential
duty satisfactorily using a pro-active approach.
Written or verbal instructions must be followed meticulously. ALL discrepancies must be
reported to lead or supervisor and later reported through our NCR system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Inspects most difficult parts/assemblies and may be consulted for
recommendations for process improvements by engineering or management. Performs 1st
piece and FAIR inspections.
2. Can perform any and all inspections without supervision.
3. Verifies quality and approves the release of manufactured parts or assemblies based on
customer requirements and specifications.
4. Accurately follows instructions on traveler. Reviews traveler for process error
and suggests improvements.
5. Accurately moves completed jobs in KNT system.
6. Participates in providing timely feedback to other operations as appropriate.
7. Responds to written and verbal instructions.
8. Mentor and coach lower level inspectors in inspection and CMM techniques.
9. Able to modify CMM programs when authorized. Able to create basic CMM programs
when authorized by the programmer.
Documentation
1. Completes all required documents and maintains records that pertain to quality
control
2. Enforces departmental and company policies, processes and procedures.
3. Identifies assembly non-conformances documents and reports it (NCR).
Provides analysis of cause.
Skill Level:
1. - Able to read and understand all blueprints and suggest corrections.
- Is reference for Level I & II inspectors.
- Reviews new prints for errors.
2. - GD&T expert (Certificate preferred).
- Is reference for level I & II inspectors.
3. Expert on the use of all inspection tools. Is reference for Levels I & II.
4. - Excellent knowledge of customer's Cosmetic Specs.
- Excellent knowledge of industrial, customer's plating specs. (OJT). Is
reference for Level I & II inspectors
- Excellent knowledge of Lam’s Radius Inspection BKM (202-079746-003)
- Excellent knowledge of Lam's Surface Ra Inspection BKM (202-079746-001)
5. Can lead continuous improvement activities
6. - Proficiently operates Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform
inspections.
- Light CMM programming (OJT)
- Will train Levels I & II.
7. Serves as a mentor as well as a back-up to the Team Leader or supervisor in
their absence
8. Troubleshoots all levels of problems and makes recommendations for continuous
improvement
5S:
1. Maintains adequate supplies and a neat and orderly work area
2. Maintains tools and equipment in proper working order and performs
preventative maintenance as required.
Customer:
1. Maintains the security and confidentiality of customers’ products and
documentation
2. May work with customers as required

Ability to apply common sense understanding to develop instructions to guide others with
written, oral communication skills. Ability to deal with problems involving multiple
variables in varied situations is required.
