Summary: Manages special events and banquets at the Visitor Center or outside facilities to ensure efficient and profitable operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Compensation This position pays within a range of $15.00-$17.00 an hour, based on experience, as a FLSA non-exempt hourly employee, paid weekly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops and executes plans for soliciting business for banquets and events at the Visitor Centers.
Manages banquets and events to ensure the successful execution of all functions held at the Visitor Center facilities, including banquet halls and party rooms, from preparation and implementation to closure.
Establishes standards for personnel responsibilities and performance, room and food rates, advertising, publicity, credit, food selection and service, and type of patronage to be solicited.
Plans dining room, bar, and banquet operations; requisitions supplies and equipment.
Directs workers (employees and/or temporary workers) in event-related activities.
Reviews financial transactions and monitors budget to ensure efficient operation, and to ensure expenditures stay within budget limitations.
Processes reservations and advance registration payments.
Answers guests' complaints and resolves problems.
Manages Chocolate & Wine Experience and the wine pourers, maintains inventory of wine, chocolate, glasses and all necessary supplies

Education and/or Experience
One to three years of related experience and/or training; good communication skills; ability to work well with other departments; proactive approach to business and problem resolution. Working knowledge of MS Office Software including Word and Excel.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software and Internet.
