As my final crop of young students graduate from Berkeley High School and move off with their cellos to college, I have a limited number of openings in my teaching studio for a few, enthusiastic, adult beginners. No prior musical training or cello experience is required. If you have some, great, so much the better. I have worked with many adult beginners over the years, and always find them to be interesting, motivated and highly creative students. Most have successful professional careers in other fields, but feel the call of the cello at some point in their lives - perhaps a movie sound track? A wedding? Yo Yo Ma jamming on Sesame Street? The sound of the cello is timeless, and touches us emotionally in a very special way. So if you've always wanted to give the cello a try, here's your opportunity. One hour lessons are $60. Cellos are available to rent for $75 a month. The first trial lesson, of 30 minutes, is free. (Pictured in photo: Mstislav Rostropovich)
