I offer tailored individual tutoring for all aspects of the California Bar (I was asked to grade the CA Bar exam), law school exams, and law school writing assignments (IRAC memos, briefs, law review articles, moot court briefs and documents, course outlines, etc.). I also help lawyers, law students and paralegals with their writing. (I can help you with any aspect of your writing, taking exams, outlines, etc., but I don't give legal advice and I am not taking on cases). I work with people by Skype, Zoom, phone and email.
I hold a J.D. and Ph.D. in English from Boalt (Berkeley law school) and UC Berkeley, and have taught Law and English for more than ten years at UC Berkeley (undergraduate and graduate), Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges, and Santa Clara University. I practiced intellectual property and public interest law for five years in the Bay Area, and have also published more than fifty articles in English and law and two books, with another forthcoming (you can look up my publications and Academia.edu page on line on request).
I also edit, and offer assistance to students seeking help with college, graduate, and business school (M.B.A., MBA) applications and personal statements; students with ESL issues; medical, dental and nursing school applicants (M.D., M.S.W., MSW); students seeking help with law school applications and writing assignments; and those seeking help with the verbal portions of the SAT, LSAT, MCAT and GRE. I provide general college guidance counseling, including assistance with applications; advice on when, how and where to apply (including advice regarding majors, departments, safety schools, etc.); advice regarding how to improve your application (e.g., volunteer and advance placement opportunities, financial aid, etc.); and help with writing resumes, application essays, and preparing for interviews, along with other aspects of the application process.
I also offer individual tutoring and general editing services and assistance to college and graduate students seeing help with their work, including research papers; Ph.D. dissertations and M.A. and M.S.W. theses; writing projects; nursing and M.S.W. theses; legal writing; and copy-editing. (I have also, for example, written and edited numerous monographs, legal treatises, a Fodors Travel Guide, etc.). I work with people by Skype, Zoom, What'sapp, phone and email.
