We are a solo immigration practice focused on representing crime victims in immigration matters (U visas and VAWA) and handling family based hardship waiver cases. We seek a contract attorney to draft timely, high-quality responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and other time-sensitive filings.
Position Summary
We need an experienced immigration contract attorney to review case files, gather or identify missing evidence, draft persuasive RFE responses and supporting legal memoranda, and ensure timely filings in crime-victim matters. Strong attention to deadlines and client-centered, trauma-informed communication are essential.
Qualifications
- Active U.S. law license in good standing; admission to practice for at least 2 years preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience practicing immigration law, with specific experience drafting RFEs and working on crime-victim cases (U visa, VAWA).
- Strong legal writing, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with USCIS evidence standards.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize urgent filings.
- Experience with document organization, redaction, and exhibit indexing.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) a plus, but not necessary.
Contract Details
- Project-based engagement: paid per RFE response or hourly depending on agreement.
- Typical turnaround: 3–7 business days per RFE (urgent 48–72 hour turnarounds sometimes required).
- Expected caseload varies; average 2–8 RFEs per month depending on workload.
