I am looking for a highly skilled solar technician, custom EV/lithium battery builder, or industrial electronics specialist in the East Bay to troubleshoot a home energy storage system.
The Equipment:
System: BatteryEVO Walrus G2 (All-in-One Cabinet and 2 extension batteries) [Company has gone out of business]
The Issue:
Following a grid-to-solar switching event, the system experienced a power surge. A licensed electrician has already opened the cabinet and performed a physical inspection: there are no melted plugs, burned external wires, or visible mechanical shorts.
However, the LCD display is now frozen at 98% charge and 0 usage. The physical hard boot (15+ minute complete shutdown of PV, AC, and Battery to drain capacitors) did not unfreeze the screen. Because the Walrus G2 uses voltage-based internal communication rather than an external RS485 data cable, I suspect the surge damaged the internal HMI communication board or the data pins bridging the battery's BMS to the inverter head.
What I Need:
I need a specialist who understands 72V DC architecture and Megarevo platforms to:
Safely test the internal communication bridge between the BMS and the inverter head.
Determine if the HMI board can be replaced or if the communication link can be repaired.
Optional: Discuss the feasibility of re-wiring the 72V battery bank into a standard 48V configuration if the internal inverter is permanently bricked.
Compensation:
Please reply with a brief summary of your experience with 72V lithium systems/inverters and your hourly rate or flat diagnostic fee. I am located in Berkeley.
