I’m looking for a mechanically inclined helper to assist with an ongoing sailboat refit project in the Berkeley / East Bay area. You would just be working with me, the owner and the schedule is quite flexible to your availability. I'm really looking for someone i can work with over a long period of time.
This is hands-on, physical work — sanding, removing and rebedding hardware, drilling, lifting, cleaning, and general project assistance. Boat experience is a plus but not required. Construction, carpentry, mechanical, or serious DIY experience is ideal.
Pay:
$30–35/hr depending on experience and ability
Schedule:
• 1–3 days per week (flexible - you can come any time but mostly on weekends)
• Ongoing project over the next 1-2 years
• Daytime / Nigh time work (whichever you prefer), weather-dependent
You should be comfortable with:
• Using power tools (drills, sanders, grinders, impact drivers)
• Following instructions and working carefully
• Dusty / dirty work at times
• Working outdoors at a marina
• Showing up on time and communicating clearly
Nice to have (not required):
• Boat, automotive, or mechanical experience
• Your own basic hand tools
• Construction or trades background
