In most Asian cultures, the color red symbolizes a range of meanings, including good fortune, happiness, success, long life, and peace. The two pieces offered for sale in this listing are both a beautiful, deep, rich red and would look great if used together in the same room.
1. Vintage wood tray with Chinese characters on the side and bottom, translated as ‘often - heart- love’, which we take to mean ‘love often with your heart’. This tray is solidly built, with metal box corners. The rich patina of age gives it so much personality and visual interest.
The inside surface is deep red while the outside surfaces are more of a red-orange color. The sides are slanted slightly outward, as made clear by the measurements below. Four felt pads are on the bottom corners to provide protection.
This tray could be used for a variety of purposes:
+ As a serving tray
+ As a coffee table or side table, when placed on top of a base
+ As an organizer for magazines, books, toys, and any other similar items for which it would be suitable
+ As a decorative object.

2. Round wood box: This deep red box is solid, heavy wood, straight sided with 1” raised bands encircling it near the top and bottom. It can be used to hold a potted plant, toys, arts and crafts supplies (such as skeins of yarn), or whatever else you can think of. It can also be flipped over so that the bottom side serves as a small, low table. There are a number of small nick marks that you have to be close to the box to see at all.
