I am starting a support group for anyone else affected by this rare ailment. For those who are diagnosed or not yet Diagnosed. For those who do not know more about what it is. Brachioradial pruritus is bilateral approximately 75% of the time affecting the lower arms from the elbow all the way to the hands. It resembles a rash, poison oak, with extreme itching, burning. For those that do not know what the feeling is like image “someone put gasoline on both your arms and set it on fire” One cannot sleep at night, sun light increases the pain.
The medical care groups do not know what to do, they tend to treat it like it’s a skin rash or other ailment. Treating physicians order creams & lotions all of which does nothing to get to the root problem.
What should be done is a specific Neurological workup on the actual cause- which is a back cervical spine disc issues, where the nerves coming out of your spine are constricts, narrowing of the nerves which go to your arms. Causing this ailment. You can think of it as a slip disc effecting your nerves going to your both your arms. Kaiser seems to be the slowest in getting to the solution to the problem they want to treat everything with baby aspirin, creams, ointments, and lotions before they spend the money on the real treatment. This has been a real problem with medical treatment getting people to believe the real problem causes, and stop treating the symptoms for other ailments.
