I have many volunteer dwarf passionflowers that sprout in my garden, and I have run out of places to transplant them. I have various sizes from $5-20, beginning with newly sprouted plants up to plants with multiple stems about 4 feet long. All of them remain in the ground where they originally sprouted until someone comes to buy them. They do not fruit, but their flowers attract hummingbirds pretty much every day, and they draw Queen butterflies often as well -- I've even seen them lay their eggs on the leaves.
They are evergreen, and I use them to cover fences. I find them ideal because they require little water or attention. They do not grow heavy trunks that can pull down a trellis like many vines, require little to no pruning, but will cover a large area over time -- my original plant has grown horizontally down the fence and is now 20+ feet long. They are long-lived -- I haven't had one die in the 10+ years I've grown them -- and they need only minimal moisture (in fact they don't like overly wet soil).
These pictures are of my actual plants -- the last one shows a large one for sale (currently on the ground since it didn't sprout near a fence).
